The Durban University of Technology (DUT) is a multi-campus institution in Kwazulu-Natal with campuses in Durban and Pietermaritzburg. It is the result of the merger of two esteemed technikons, ML Sultan and Technikon Natal. It then later became the Durban University of Technology in line with the universities of technology across the country.

DUT is a member of the international association of universities and focuses on technological training, research and innovation. In line with the institution’s strategy ENVISION 2030, the university is aiming to see its staff and students become more entrepreneurial and innovative.

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) was established in 2004 and is the largest residential university in South Africa. The university currently has nine campuses in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo as well as two learning sites in Durban and Cape Town.

The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) was established in 2004 and was previously known as Vaal Triangle Technikon. The university is based in southern Gauteng and draws students from all over the country. The institution has four campuses in Vanderbijlpark, Secunda, Daveyton and Upington. The campuses are strategically placed near major petrochemical, steel, engineering, telecommunications and manufacturing companies.
